iSea and The Green Tank organize a training seminar on “Citizen participation in environmental policy making – Recent developments in addressing biodiversity loss” in Zakynthos.
The aim of the seminar is to inform citizens on current issues and policies related to biodiversity at national and European level, and to engage them in actions for nature’s protection. Through an interactive exchange between students of the field, members of voluntary organizations and interested citizens, means of intervention and advocacy will be thoroughly discussed, enhancing participation in environmental governance.
The seminar is organized in collaboration with the Department of Environment of the Ionian University, and it will be held on Thursday, 31 March 2022, 16:00-20:00, at the Department’s premises. The seminar speaker is Ioli Christopoulou, Policy Director of The Green Tank.
An opening address will be given by Aikaterini Kampasi, Head of the Department of Environment, and George Karris, Assistant Professor, Department of Environment, Ionian University.
The seminar is organized as part of the project “Learn-Participate-Protect the Εnvironment”. It is the third in a series of seminars to be held in 8 Greek cities. The primary goal of the project is to promote, strengthen and safeguard the participation of citizens in processes related to the creation and implementation of environmental policies in Greece, with particular emphasis on three topics: the climate crisis, biodiversity loss and plastic pollution.
The project “Learn-Participate-Protect the Εnvironment” is operated by iSea and implemented in partnership with the Green Tank, under the Active Citizens Fund programme. It includes two cycles of informational and training activities consisting of webinars and live seminars during the academic years 2021-2022 and 2022-2023.
