The Green Tank participated in the Interreg Euro-MED Natural Heritage Mission Annual Institutional Dialogue 2025 in Barcelona (25–27 November), held alongside the 10th Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Regional Forum and the 30th anniversary of the Barcelona Process.
Organized by MedCities and CREAF with support from Interreg Euro-MED NHM, the event brought together policy makers, practitioners, and organizations from across the Mediterranean to discuss EU policy directions such as the Ocean’s Pact, the Pact for the Mediterranean, and the new Nature Restoration Regulation.
Within the NHM Community of Practice, The Green Tank, together with the Interreg Euro-MED ARTEMIS team (of which it is a partner), presented the progress of the project’s key outputs:
- Restoration Guide for restoring seagrass ecosystems.
- Action Plan to scale up seagrass restoration activities – including recommendations to strengthen governance and collaboration at all levels.
- Restoration Finance Cookbook – a guide presenting suggestions on how to leverage existing and new funding instruments to support seagrass restoration projects.
The presentation contributed to discussions on the needs of Mediterranean countries and regions, and on opportunities for transferring knowledge, experience and adopting solutions.
The event highlighted the importance of collaboration for protecting, restoring, and enhancing the resilience of the Mediterranean’s natural heritage—at a time when critical policies like the Nature Restoration Regulation are shaping the European and regional agenda.
