Climate change and security

The Green Tank’s co-founder and policy director, Ioli Christopoulou moderated a panel titled “Rising Temperatures, Rising Tensions: Climate Change and Security Implications for Greece and its Neighbors”.

The timely panel discussion on how climate change is reshaping security dynamics in one the world’s most climate-sensitive regions was organized by the Georgetown University Earth Commons Greece and the Columbia University Global Center Athens.

The panelists were:
Emmanuella Doussis, Professor of International Institutions, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens; Chairholder, UNESCO Chair on Climate Diplomacy
Eleni (Lenio) Myrivili, UN Chief Heat Officer
Peter Schwartzstein, Environmental Journalist and Global Fellow at the Wilson Centre, Author of The Heat and the Fury: On the Frontlines of Climate Violence
Nikos Tsafos, Chief Energy Adviser to the Prime Minister of Greece
