Objective: The main objective of ARTEMIS is to accelerate the restoration of Posidonia seagrass meadows and to reassess their ecosystem services especially in terms of mitigation and adaptation to climate change. Project partners are working to improve restoration techniques, develop financial solutions, and integrate seagrass meadows into policy decisions and investment programmes.

Our contribution: The Green Tank will be working closely with the team of the Institute of Oceanography at HCMR on the Greek pilot site located at the bay of Atzikiari in the Municipality of Sitia (Crete), which is within a Natura 2000 site (GR4320006). The focus is mostly on the design and implementation of policy actions and engaging with stakeholders, in collaboration with the Region of Crete which is an Associated Partner to the project. The Green Tank will also contribute to the project’s policy actions targeted at the Mediterranean and EU level.
