Objective: The project LIFE Effect [LIFE Effective and Fair European Carbon Trading: Ensuring EU carbon pricing and revenue use serves the climate and society] aims to strengthen the knowledge, capacity and networking of Civil Society Organizations and other stakeholders on two new European climate policy tools: the EU Emissions Trading System for Road Transport and Buildings (ETS 2) and the Social Climate Fund (SCF). In addition, the project will raise awareness among EU citizens to support the implementation of the Emissions Trading System in these new sectors of the economy in a way that works for the climate and society. LIFE Effect actions will contribute to the national implementation of the EU ETS and SCF, as well as the adoption of fair and effective carbon pricing policies. The aim is to do this in a way that maximises climate benefits, promoting rapid decarbonization, ensuring social justice and protecting vulnerable households, leaving no one behind.
Our contribution: Building on the organization’s expertise on issues related to the ETS, its operation as well as the use of ETS resources for social and climate purposes, The Green Tank will focus on the Greek national policy, supporting the activities of networks and stakeholders in the EU-27. In particular, the organization will contribute to trainings and networking activities as well as to the implementation of ETS 2 and SCF policy tools at national level. At the same time, through its analyses, it will record the trends in the emissions of the ETS sectors in Greece and other Member States.
