EU Nature Credits consultation: The Green Tank and ARTEMIS share expertise
In July 2025, the European Commission presented the “Roadmap Towards Nature Credits”, an initiative that examines how nature protection and restoration can be enhanced through private finance, and in particular, through reliable, scientifically based and transparent nature credit schemes. The Green Tank, together with the partners of the Interreg Euro-MED ARTEMIS project, contributed to the public consultation.
The carbon footprint of electricity production – August 2025
In the first 8 months of 2025, carbon emissions from the power sector (10.56 million tons) exceeded the annual carbon budget of the NECP (10.2 million tons), as fossil gas plants set a record for the same period with 5.79 million tons. For August, however, emissions were relatively lower (1.32 million tons), and carbon intensity was low (213.9 g CO2/kWh) thanks to reduced lignite and gas use.
