Fine imposed to a TV production company for violating the environmental legislation in the protected habitats of Elafonisos
The Regional Prefecture of the Peloponnese imposed an administrative fine against the production company of the TV show “Greece’s Next Top Model (GNTM) 3” of STAR channel, following a joint complaint for violation of environmental legislation in Natura 2000 network sites of the Municipality of Elafonisos, which 17 environmental NGOs submitted last December. The complaint concerned a serious incident of driving (motorcycles and 4×4 large-capacity jeeps) at high speeds on the protected beaches of Elafonisos, resulting in the degradation of sensitive sand dune ecosystems.
