The Green Tank is participating in the new EUKI-funded project “Beyond Fossil Gas in CEE”, a regional initiative aiming to accelerate the phase-out of fossil gas and support a secure and climate-neutral energy transition in Central and Eastern Europe.
The project brings together partners from Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Greece, and Germany to develop evidence-based energy transition scenarios, assess viable alternatives to fossil gas across key sectors, and co-create national and EU-level policy recommendations.
As part of the project, The Green Tank will support the development of energy transition scenarios and the assessment of alternatives to fossil gas in Greece. It will also organise stakeholder consultations and contribute to dissemination and advocacy activities at the national level.
The project seeks to strengthen climate and energy policymaking by providing actionable pathways that reduce dependence on fossil gas, avoid stranded investments, and align national strategies with EU climate objectives.
The consortium is coordinated by the Center for the Study of Democracy (Bulgaria), and is composed of the following partners: Energy Policy Group (Romania), REKK (Hungary), E3G (Germany), and The Green Tank (Greece).
