An article by Ioanna Theodosiou presenting the possibility of laying down a state aid scheme specifically for energy communities, based on the recent successful example of the Irish Renewable Electricity Support System (RESS).
Since the enactment of the Energy Communities’ founding law in 2018 until today, State Aid provisions have been the major obstacles to the absorption of resources earmarked specifically for energy communities in Greece. The Irish case shows that there is a way out in creating State Aid schemes for energy communities under the existing regulations.
