Nikos Mantzaris participated in the online event titled “«In my beginning is my end…», a narrative of the transition to the post-lignite “organized by the literary magazine” Paremvasi” (Intervention) on December 19, 2020.
The event that accompanies the publication of a book on the post-Lignite era, took place in the context of the action “Literature here and now”, which is under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture & Sports. The journal “Paremvasi”, through the publication and the event, seeks to touch on the issue of the Transition from a broader point of view: literary, cultural, technocratic, social and at the same time deeply personal.
The event included 4 thematic sessions:
A. The historical, technical, economic and social perspective
B. The literary perspective
C. The photographic perspective
D. The artistic perspective
Nikos Mantzaris participated in the first session together with Theodoros Theodoulidis, Rector of the University of Western Macedonia, Dimitris Kamariadis, former head of the Energy Center of Western Macedonia, Tassos Sidiropoulos, Director of Programs of the Development Company of Western Macedonia (ANKO) and Lefteris Topaloglou, Director of the Regional Union of Municipalities of Western Macedonia (PED DM)
In his speech Nikos Mantzaris had the opportunity to talk about the political choices and developments in energy and climate policy that led to the current difficult reality faced by the citizens of the lignite regions in Greece; the current situation and policy recommendations to address the challenges of the future.
