Following the decision of the Green Fund’s Board of Directors under the Ministry of Environment and Energy, which convened on July 2 2025, co-funding was approved for The Green Tank for the LIFE EFFECT project for the year 2025.
The LIFE EFFECT project (LIFE Effective and Fair European Carbon Trading: Ensuring EU carbon pricing and revenue use serves the climate and society – LIFE23-GIC-BE-LIFE EFFECT) aims to promote effective and fair carbon emissions trading in Europe, ensuring that carbon pricing and the use of related revenues benefit both the climate and society.
LIFE EFFECT seeks to enhance the knowledge, capacity, and networking of civil society and other key stakeholders around the new EU Emissions Trading System for road transport and buildings (ETS 2), as well as the Social Climate Fund (SCF).
The LIFE EFFECT partners aim to raise public awareness about ETS 2 and the SCF, to help support the implementation of an emissions trading system in these two new sectors of the economy in a way that truly delivers for the climate and society. This is achieved through targeted workshops, in-depth analyses and policy recommendations, along with many other activities.
The project is coordinated by Carbon Market Watch (Brussels) and implemented in collaboration with the following partners: The Green Tank, Bond Beter Leefmilieu (BBL), Asociace pro mezinárodní otázky (AMO), Germanwatch, ECCO, Polska Zielona Sieć (PGN), Associação Sistema Terrestre Sustentável (ZERO), and the European Environmental Bureau (EEB). The project runs from July 2024 to June 2027.
LIFE EFFECT is co-funded by the European Union’s LIFE programme.
