Trends in electricity production – September 2023
For the first time, renewables and large hydro (18980 GWh) exceeded 50% in meeting demand in the first nine months of 2023. They even exceeded fossil fuel and net imports cumulatively (18845 GWh). On the other hand, lignite generation in September 2023 was the second lowest historically (187 GWh), only 11 GWh behind the first lowest in April 2022 (176 GWh). September was the first net export month for 2023, with net exports of 133 GWh.
