European elections 2024: 5 years of the European Green Deal & the expected critical environmental challenges for the next term

As part of the project “Learn-Participate-Protect the Environment”, iSea and The Green Tank co-organize an online event on “European elections 2024: 5 years of the European Green Deal & the expected critical environmental challenges for the next term” with the participation of representatives of the Representation of the European Commission in Athens.

As the 2024 European elections are getting closer, it is now the time to reflect on what has been achieved and set our targets. Central to the discussion is the European Green Deal, announced in 2019 as a development strategy that put at its heart the need for a green and just transformation of the European Union on the path to achieving climate neutrality by 2050:

– What were its key achievements in addressing the climate crisis, biodiversity loss and marine plastic pollution in 2019-2024?

– What was left behind and why?

– What are the next environmental challenges for which decisions need to be taken at European level?

– What opportunities are identified and what are the difficulties?

The event will take place on Monday, 08 April, 16:00-17:30, via Zoom.

Participants on behalf of the Representation of the European Commission in Athens include:

Eleni Palaeologou, Deputy Head

Evangelia Georgitsis, Communication Manager and Coordinator of Europe Direct Centres

Haris Kountouros, Communication Manager

The discussion will be moderated by:

Ioli Christopoulou, The Green Tank

Anastasia Charitou, iSea
