Advancing policy change towards a society and an economy based on sustainability, justice and environmental protection constitutes for Ioanna a core priority throughout her academic and professional career.

Ioanna is an agronomist who graduated from the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development at the Agricultural University of Athens. She, then, completed postgraduate studies at the Department of Economic and Regional Development at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences.

Her previous work included advocating for sustainable agrifood systems, promoting organic farming, farmers’ markets and advancing direct access  to food. She also monitored developments in national, European and international policies and laws on environment, biodiversity, water resources, energy, climate change and sustainable development.

Before joining the Green Tank in 2020, she served as Scientific Associate of the President of the Special Permanent Committee on Environmental Protection and the Subcommittee on Water Resources of the Hellenic Parliament focusing on the coordination and scientific review of specific topics and reports of the Committees.
