Today, our planet is under threat. Land, water and sea degradation, inefficient use and over-exploitation of resources, climate change, pollution, and invasive alien species have created an unprecedented ecological crisis. Exceeding the earth’s limits, we are faced with biodiversity loss, which, together with the loss of the goods and services that nature generously provides, threatens the foundations of our social well-being, prosperity and security.
The rate of loss and the magnitude of the impact require immediate action at the local, national and European level.
