Kick off meeting for the ARTEMIS project

With the goal of accelerating the restoration of Posidonia seagrass meadows and exploring their ecosystem services in the Mediterranean, the partners of the ARTEMIS project had their first, kick off meeting. The project, led by Plan Bleu, will be implemented by 10 partners from Mediterranean countries, including The Green Tank.

The projects’ partners we will work on improving restoration techniques, developing financial solutions and integrating seagrass values into policy and investment programmes.

Another participant from Greece includes the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR), while the Region of Crete is among the associated partners.

For the needs of the project, the pilot area selected is the bay of Atzikiari in the Municipality of Sitia (Crete), which is within the Natura 2000 network (GR4320006).

Τhe other 8 partners include:

ISPRA, MEDSEA, IME-OBSAM, Municipality of Monfalcone, ECOACSA, Denkstatt, Bax & Company.

The kick-off meeting was held on March 13, 2024.

The project is part of the Natural Heritage Mission of the Interreg Euro-MED Programme.
