The Green Tank participated in the event titled “The Mediterranean Tomorrow? Mare Mortum” organized by the YWCA – Glyfada (Greece), in collaboration with the Hellenic Center for Marine Research (HCMR) at the Glyfada town hall on Friday, November 22, 2019.
The event aimed to raise public awareness on the environmental status as well as the opportunities for the protection of the Mediterranean Sea. Ioli Christopoulou presented on the “Challenges and opportunities for the protection of the Mediterranean” during which she highlighted the role of marine protected areas as well as other measures that can render possible blue sustainable development in the Mediterranean.
Presentations were also made by HCMR scientists Argyro Andriopoulou (biologist) and Emmanouela Voutsina (biologist – oceanographer), while the women members of the environment group of YWCA Glyfada provided an introductory overview of the state of the Mediterranean.
