As trilogue negotiations on EU ETS reform are underway, Civil Society Organizations, including the Green Tank, together with clean industry frontrunners, co-sign an open letter advocating for a strong EU ETS and a well-designed CBAΜ, which would reduce the carbon footprint of the industry, while also protecting its competitiveness.
Organizations place particular emphasis on the timely phase out of free ETS allowances (10% annually between 2026 and 2030, and fully by 2032), their allocation depending on the fulfillment of energy efficiency requirements and decarbonisation plans, and their better targeting to industries/manufacturers that are already investing in clean production processes.
The open letter is available here.
