On February 19, 2019, the Green Tank together with the European NGO networks Europe Beyond Coal, Climate Action Network, CEE Bankwatch, the Polish Green Network, the Hungarian Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and WWF co-signed a letter addressed to Mr. Borchardt, chair of the European Commission led “Coal Regions in Transition” Platform, aiming to improve the just transition process.
The platform was established by the European Commission in 2017 in order to provide technical assistance to EU coal mining regions and to support their transition to alternative economic activities as shift their economies away from coal.
