Bold cuts in CO2 emissions from heavy vehicles are necessary

The Green Tank sent a letter to Greek MEPs regarding the upcoming vote in the European Parliament plenary on the revision of CO2 standards for heavy-duty vehicles.

The Regulation covers trucks and buses, which account for 27% of greenhouse gas emissions from road transport in Europe and only 2% of vehicles in use.

In its letter, The Green Tank asks MEPs to support the level of ambition agreed in the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI), and to vote against a new amendment pushed by the oil and gas industry that introduces a so-called “carbon correction factor” (CCF) for biofuels and e-fuels.
